Researchers at the University of Alberta, Canada, have been researching a surgical face mask with a coating of sodium chloride designed to kill virus particles quickly.

We know that salt is naturally antibacterial and new research has found that viruses can only survive up to 30 minutes on salt (compared with up to 4 days on glass surfaces), more research is being done into this natural approach.
