A Year of Salty Breathing!
Following on from our very successful first ever Salt Yoga workshop in June 2017 – in the form of Salty Breathing and Meditation – Salt Space is pleased to say that we are making this a monthly event, usually on the Third Wednesday of every month
7 to 9 pm. (But please check exact dates!)
We are really proud that our Workshops are being run by the highly experienced Sue Bradley. Sue has been practising yoga for over 20 years and is an experienced teacher who believes in making yoga fun, always keeping a light-hearted approach to her classes. Interestingly, ATS (American Thoracic Society) recently reported that yoga can improve quality of life in patients with asthma and COPD. Great news for Salt Space customers.
The workshop is an all-level class where beginners are welcome, and the whole workshop takes place seated on chairs, focusing on breathing and relaxation rather than physical poses. Taking place in two salt therapy rooms in Salt Space, where the walls and floor are covered in salt, the first half concentrates on Pranayama [Breathing exercises]. After a break for chai tea we then focus on Yoga Nidra [guided meditation] while micro-particles of pure salt are aerated into the room. As you inhale the salt, your respiratory system will benefit from the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties of the salt, freeing up the lungs – and all this while you’re having deep rest! Expect deep relaxation plus lots of take-home techniques.

New to yogic breathing and meditation? Here are some tips:
1. Meditation is best practised not on a full stomach, a light meal or snack beforehand is fine.
2. Ensure you drink lots of water during the day – don’t wait until class starts to hydrate.
3. Wear comfy clothes and shoes; a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms are fine.
4. Don’t wear perfume or anything strong-smelling.
5. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class so everyone can settle in.
